Custom House: The committee directed to submit a report within seven days
Custom House Chittagong has formed a four-member inquiry committee to tackle tax evasion, counterfeiting, and illegal access to the servers of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The formation of the committee was announced in a circular signed by Customs Commissioner Mohammad Fakhrul Alam on Monday.
The committee members include Custom House Joint-Commissioner Mohammad Tafsir Uddin Bhuiyan as the convener, Deputy Commissioner Md Mizanur Rahman as member secretary, Deputy Commissioner Omar Mobin, and Assistant Revenue Officer Md Faruq Abdullah.
The proposed committee has been directed to submit an objective investigation report within the next seven days.
Matters to be investigated by the committee include the import of goods, submission of B/E, the customs clearance and redemption process, the accuracy of IPs used, and people involved in misconduct during the unloading of goods, among other issues.
