Jose Mourinho has identified Harry Kane’s replacement at Tottenham Hotspur if he departs to either Manchester United or City this summer.
Harry Kane is reportedly considering an exit from Tottenham this summer with both Manchester clubs interested in the England captain.
Mourinho, who worked both at United and Tottenham, did not shy away from naming Kane’s successor in a recent interview with BT Sport as he discussed his former club following his appointment at Roma.
The former United boss waxed lyrical about Tottenham’s teenage talent Dane Scarlett who made his debut for the club at just 16-years-old.
“He is a diamond, a kid with incredible potential,” Mourinho told BT Sport.
“He has worked many times with the first team and that gives him a different personality. He is still 16, 17 soon [in March] and I believe next season he will be a first-team squad player because he has a lot of talent
“He is going to be a fantastic player and I hope everything around him goes well.”
Mourinho later compared Scarlett to United’s very own Marcus Rashford claiming he used him in the same role as United’s star man.
“He is a striker, a number nine, I have been playing him from the sides similar to Marcus Rashford and he is very clever.”
Tottenham are keen to convince Kane to stay this summer and are reluctant to part ways with their club-legend — especially if it means strengthening rivals in the Premier League.
