A revamped France side – featuring Andre-Pierre Gignac, Florian Thauvin and Lucas Tousart as the big names – lost 4-1 to Mexico, while Australia shocked Argentina by beating them 2-0. Hosts Japan got their campaign off to a winning start by beating South Africa 1-0, with Real Madrid youngster Take Kubo scoring a wonderful goal.
